1995 APS Topical Conference
Shock Compression of Condensed Matter
13 - 18 August 1995
Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers
Seattle, Washington
Announcement
The Shock Compression of Condensed Matter Conference is a biennial international meeting sponsored by The American Physical Society Topical Group on Shock Compression of Condensed Matter. The Conference's purposes are to promote an understanding of fundamental shock physics, to highlight current research in the many related fields, and to discuss the application of various aspects of shock physics. The 1995 Conference will provide an international forum for technical exchange among scientists, engineers, academic professionals, users, and industrialists.
Conference Program
The Conference will include five days of oral presentations with one poster session. Selection of contributions for oral and poster presentations were based on submitted abstracts. APS policy regarding paper submission restricts each first author to only one contributed paper. Additional submission by the same author were accepted on a space-available basis only. The Conference Proceedings, which will be comprised of formatted and reviewed technical papers, will be published by the American Institute of Physics. Commercial exhibits of equipment and products have been arranged.
Papers (300) and posters (50) of current research, experimental techniques, computational models, and applications have been accepted for presentation in the following broad disciplines:
- Chemical Processes at High Pressures
- Shock Induced Reaction and Synthesis
- Equations of State and Phase Transitions
- Penetration and Cratering Mechanics
- Fracture and Fragmentation
- Elastic Plastic Deformation
- Atomic and Molecular Studies
- Analytical and Numerical Techniques
- Detonation Physics of Energetic Materials
- Advances in Experimental Techniques
- Lasers and Particle Beams Interaction
- Optical and Magnetic Studies
- Constitutive Models
- Planetary Impact and Geophysics
- Industrial Applications of Shock Physics
Audio/Visual Requirements
Presentations of accepted papers should be geared to overhead (view-graph) projection. Requests for 35mm slide projection and video presentation must be made at the time of registration. Other presentation media will not be available.
