We apply renormalization group (RG) methods to single-species three-particle reaction-diffusion systems to obtain an expression for the asymptotic density decay. Previous RG studies have demonstrated the universality of the asymptotic density and the existence of logarithmic corrections to the rate-equation predicted decay. We calculate the subleading asymptotic term and show that it is universal as well. Our computer simulations confirm the existence of logarithmic corrections in one dimension and support the amplitudes predicted by theory. Finally, we show that, contrary to previous studies, the Smoluchowski approximation gives precisely the same asymptotic density as the RG calculation, though the leading correction is absent.
