[P10.005] isospin diffusion and isospin diffusion coefficients

Lijun Shi, Pawel Danielewicz (NSCL MSU)

The isospin diffusion phenomenon of nuclear matter is discussed within the transport theory for a two component Fermi system. The isospin diffusion coefficient is calculated for the nuclear system in the framework of Chapman and Enskog expansion method. The shear viscosity and heat conductivity are also calculated in the same calculation. The isospin diffusion process could also come from the polarization effect, which is directly related to the isospin dependent main field in the nuclear matter. The isospin diffusion time scale estimate from the isospin diffusion coefficient is comparable to that from a transport simulation of a heavy-ion reaction.
