[K2.004] Hard processes at RHIC

Francois Gelis (SPhT, CEA/Saclay, FRANCE)

Hard processes are fairly well understood in vacuum thanks to perturbative QCD. In high energy heavy ion collisions such as those performed at RHIC, these processes can be modified by medium effects. These modifications can therefore give us some insight on the nature of the matter which is formed in such collisions. In this talk, I will discuss in particular the physics of jets, energy loss, and electromagnetic probes like photons and lepton pairs.
