[F2.015] Can Inflation be Sensitive to Very High Energy Physics?

Richard Holman (Department of Physics, Carnegie Mellon University), Cliff Burgess, Jim Cline, Francois Lemieux (Department of Physics, McGill University)

We examine the sensitivity of the CMB calculation in inflationary models to physics above the inflation energy scale. Using models involving coupled fields in non-adiabatically evolving configurations, we show that, under some circumstances, high energy physics can imprint itself on the CMB anisotropy spectrum. We also discuss some issues associated with the so-called alpha-vacua.
