[G02.06] An Object-Oriented Algorithm for the Electromagnetic Field of a Point Charge in an Arbitrary State of Motion

Peter G. Cramer (Department of Physics, Case Western Reserve University)

An algorithm for calculating the electromagnetic field due to a point charge in an arbitrary state of motion is presented. This algorithm is accurate for any classical system, and does not require any a priori approximations. It is well suited for pedagogical applications, and provides a clear example of the utility of object-oriented numerical methods. The main features of a C++ implementation are given, and the resulting computer program will be demonstrated.
