Session Q10 - HTSC: THEORY OF OBSERVATION OF ORDER PRAMETER SYMETRY
Mixed session, Friday morning, March 24, 8:00
Ballroom A4, San Jose Convention Center
We consider a simple model of a 2D isotropic Fermi liquid with pairing interaction in s and d channels to study the possibility of s-d mixing for certain values of the coupling constants. For attractive interactions in both channels, a weak coupling BCS calculation indicates that the mixed state necessarily has s + i d symmetry. We construct the full finite-temperature phase diagram of the model in the same approximation. For the case when the d- wave interaction is attractive and s- wave interaction is repulsive, there is a feedback effect when the d-channel attraction exceeds a threshold, such that a mixed state occurs and the ground state turns out to have s+d symmetry. We then use the Eliashberg formalism to determine whether these effects survive at strong coupling.
