Session Q10 - HTSC: THEORY OF OBSERVATION OF ORDER PRAMETER SYMETRY
Mixed session, Friday morning, March 24, 8:00
Ballroom A4, San Jose Convention Center
We show that the scattering of the conduction electrons from interacting tunneling units (ITU's) can cause an effective electron-electron interaction, pairing and superconductivity. T_c depends on the strain interactions between the ITU's. For a number of high- T_c \ materials the presence of tunneling units can be inferred from experiments.
For YBa _2 Cu _3 O _7-x we predict (i) a strongly anisotropic scattering of conduction electrons; (ii) a strongly anisotropic superconducting gap; (iii) the absence of the usual isotope effects associated with phonons in the BCS theory; (iv) a high T_c ; (v) high energy excitations not related to superconductivity. We are examining our solution for a possible d_x^2 - y^2 symmetry found experimentally et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 73, 593, 1994; D. A. Wollman et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 71, 2134, 1993. and predicted in other models. 14803, 1992.
