[9P.25] Gated Monochromatic X-ray Images from Recent Direct and Indirect Drive Experiments on Omega

John A. Oertel, Tom Archuleta, Tom Murphy (Los Alamos National Laboratory), Fred J. Marshall (University of Rochester, LLE)

been implemented on University of Rochester's Omega laser. The system is based around a Kirkpatrick-Baez (KB) microscope that forms 4 images onto a set of dispersion crystals. The dispersed images are than gated by 4 proximity focused microchannel plates and recorded on film. Spectral coverage is tunable up to 8 keV, spectral resolution has been measured at better than 20 eV , temporal resolution is 80 ps, and spatial resolution is better than 10 mm. Specific details of the instrumentation will be discussed as well as data from the direct and indirect drive implosion experiments. This work was performed under the auspices of the U. S. DOE by LANL under Contract No. W-7405-Eng-36.
